All against recent race form Nursie might be a for* mldable challenger for the honours lu the Doncaster Handicap, the first leg of the South Canterbury Jockey Club's T.A.B. double tomorrow. The Riccarton-trained Comte de Grasse mare galloped brilliantly on her home track yesterday. She had firm footing on a well-grassed No. 1 track after a 14-degree frost and reeled off her mile in 1:42 1-5, the last half in 51 4-5. She was ridden, by the stable apprentce, R. J. McCann.

Silver Charm looked as if she would be an improver in the Winchester Maiden Stakes at Washdyke. Master Leigh (Lewin) and Mr Rhee (Mein) stayed on terms to the end of half a mile in 50. The robust Master Leigh looks well after his successful campaign at Wingatui last weekend. > }
