Fire Inquiry Continues
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 5. No more developments had arisen in the inquiry into a fire which killed a farmer in a house near Feilding yesterday, the central districts regional C. 1.8. supervisor, Detective Inspector F. H, Parker, who is heading the inquiry, said tonight. The farmer, Lloyd George Green, aged 48, a widower, was found dead in the gutted ruins of his house where he lived alone at Stanway, about six miles from Feilding. His wife died about seven years ago. Detective Inspector Parker
said'that exhibits from the scene, mainly ash and body samples, had been sent to the D.S.LR. for analysis. A complete report on the exhibits should be available late tomorrow, and the results were expected to establish definitely whether the fire was homicidal, he said. Fourteen detectives are involved in the inquiry. A house layout construction was completed today
with the help of neighbours and friends, but the cause of the fire has still not been established. Detective Inspector Parker said that requests for information from the public had so far met only a limited response. The police were seeking more information about a car known to have been driven from the vicinity of Mr Green’s house on the Makino-Stanway road soon after midnight on Tuesday. The car was thought to have gone in the direction of Feilding.
