TONGA ELECTRICAL POWER BOARD SENIOR DIESEL MECHANIC APPLICATIONS are invited for the above position with the Government of Tonga. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should be between 30 and 40 years of age and be duly registered certified Plant Mechanics or equivalent and have had at least two years vocational course in an institution recognised by the Government or equivalent. Applicants should also have had wide experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and installation of a diesel power plant. DUTIES: The appointee will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and repair and maintenance of all power plant equipment and machinery. This machinery includes main diesel engines up to 1000 h.p., other auxiliary engines, pumps and piping, etc., 800 k.w. and smaller generators and auxiliary motors, switchboard control panels, etc., including the board’s vehicles. The appointee will also be required to develop and train local staff in modern techniques in power generation. SALARY: Between ST2BOO and 5T3600 per annum with normal increment of $lOO per annum. Applicants should state minimum salary acceptable within the stated range. NOTE: One Tongan dollar is equal to one New Zealand dollar at the present exchange rate.
