EIGHTH HOLE TAKEN

The organisers of the Christchurch Garden City golf classic have almost reached the turn in their quest for sponsors. Last night, the chairman of the organising committee of the combined Christchurch Round Tables (Mt R. W. Skellerup) announced that Gollin and Company had agreed to sponsor a hole for $lOOO, bringing the total amount of sponsorship confirmed to $BOOO. Mr Skellerup said the com. pany wanted to inspect the course before deciding which hole to take, It was probable, he said, that it would select a short hole, and offer a substantial hoie-in-one prize in addition to the ; $lOOO.

It is likely that the hole will be called Seagrams, after the distilling firm which the company represents.
