Forecast: Canterbury and Kaikoura Coast.—Fresh north-easterlies prevailing'in coastal districts; winds light and variable inland; some scattered areas of low cloud but mainly fine; warm afternoon temperatures inland but only moderate temperatures near the coast. Central Marlborough, the Sounds, and Nelson.—Light or moderate variable winds, mainly north-easterly; some cloudy areas but mainly fine and mild. Buller and Westland. —Light to moderate winds, mainly south-westerlies; cloudy and mild. Outlook: cloudy on the West Coast; some rain in south Westland; fine elsewhere. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
