Generosity
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 24.
No company won solid and continuing success in the United States without treating its own people generously, Mr Charles B. Bear, vice-president of Time Life International, told delegates to the sales marketing congress in Auckland.
“By its own people I mean employees, not just stock holders; and by generously I don't mean generously merely according to law,” said Mr Bear. “I mean unquestioned generosity, obvious generosity, limited only by prudence and ability to pay.
“There should also be medical benefits beyond the law, retirement benefits beyond the law, profit sharing beyond the law, life insurance, holidays and vacations ’’
Mr Bear said promotion must be by merit and not nepotism; there should also be grievance procedures and preventives.
