Ngauruhoe Active

Clouds of sulphur fumes and ash filled much of the sky to the west of Mount Ngauruhoe after the mountain erupted for a short time on Saturday afternoon. A strong wind forced some of the ash down the western slopes of the mountain, forming greyish ash. Yesterday the volcano was still active but cloud covered the top of the crater, and only wisps of sulphur dioxide gas could be seen.
