Hawke Cup Changes

Waikato took the Hawke Cup from Hawke’s Bay with a win by 203 runs at McLean Park yes* terday. Declaring at lunch at 262 for nine, Waikato left Hawke’s Bay the almost impossible task of scoring 471 runs in four hours and a half to win. The Hawke's Bay batsmen made a great effort and pro vided a small crowd with some aggressive hitting before being dismissed for 267 in 208 minutes. The highlight was 55 by J. Howell in 58 minutes, including six fours and one six.
For Waikato, the 49-year.old spin bowler, A. Lissette, took seven wickets for 84. Scores: Waikato 293 and 262/9 dec. (A. Roberts 96, J. Bailey 41: D. Beuth 4/69). Hawke’s Bay 85 and 267 (J. Howell 55, I. Jones 49, B. Furlong 46; A. Lissette 7/84).
