MINIATURE T.T. EVENT
Chch Riders Equal First
Two Christchurch riders. K. Kilgour and A. Sabiston. finished equal first in the South Island 500 c.c. motor-cycle miniature T.T. championships at Mairaki. in North Canterbury, yesterday.
The championship was decided on points over three five-lap heats and both finished with 20 points. Third place went to R. Uddstrom (Blenheim) who scored 19 points.
Uddstrom was the unluckiest rider on the day.
He won the first heat in fine style on his 500 c.c. Metisse and was leading the second heat when he slid off the track at the bottom of the climb up to the start-finish. This left Kilgour and Sabiston to battle for the lead, with Kilgour taking the flag.
Uddstrom remounted and set off after the leaders but at the finish he was in sixth place. He later won the final heat.
G. Holland (Christchurch), the favourite for the title, had a bad day and could only manage fourth placing overall.
