TOBIAS IN FAVOUR
I “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. The Tobias-Highland Hight combination will be in deman with doubles betters on the second night of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting at Alexandra Park tonight. Tobias seems sure to be a strong favourite for the first leg of the T.A.B. concession double, the Nelson Derby Handicap. He has thrived since he finished second to the top three-year-old, Garcon Roux, m the Minton Derby Handicap on the first night of the meeting last week. Of the same mark (18 yards) his chance looks second to none. Light Forbes and Bewitched, the only four-year-olds in the field, are expected to provide stout opposition. Neither is reliable from a standing start but fine efforts last week showed they were in top form Highland Flight did not incui a rehandicap for the Parris! Belle Handicap by winning ths 11-furlong Great Admiral Han dicap last week. Mountair Pride, second in the Great Ad miral Handicap, has gone from 18 yards to 36 yards. As the pair were much superior on the first night il is difficult to go past Highland Flight, especially as he is probably better at 13 furlongs than at 11 furlongs. The main danger to Highland Flight could be Eastern Star. The track was in perfect order yesterday and the weather is expected to be fine, Selections: — 4 p.m.—Carmel Pace: Ikty Mo, Red Water, Caledonian Globe. 4.30 p.m.—Nell Volo Handicap: Jays Up, Precocious, Arlington Brigade. 7 p.m. Cardigan Bay Stakes: Black Watch, Bonnie Frost, Bella’s Command. 7.35 p.m.—Bing Ana Handicap: Van Forbes, Henry Allan, True One. 0.10 p.m.—Scotia Handicap: Hi Mundy, Lucky Tom, Single Hal. 8.40 p.m.—Kelson ' Derby Handicap: Tobias, Bewitched, Light Forbes. 9.20 p.m.—Talaro Handicap: Blue Dawn, Faye Bingen, Evander's Gift. 10 p.m.—Parrish Belle Handicap: Highland Flight, Eastern Star, Mountain Pride. 10.30 p.m.—Steel Bell Free-for-all: All Real, Half Moon, Willi* Mac.
