TROTTING Glenda Hanover Likely Winner At Forbury

(From Our Own Reporter)

DUNEDIN. Glenda Hanover will have a great chance of gaining an overdue win in the Dunedin Festival Gup Consolation Race at Forbury Park Raceway this evening.

Glenda Hanover lost her chance last Saturday when a barrier strand wrapped itself round her, sending her into a tangle. Then, on Wednesday, she finished sixth over 11 furlongs. In that race she received a shocking run and was full of running at the finish. This fine mare is to be auctioned next month at Invercargill and it seems likely that she will go to America. A number of inquiries for her have already been received from the United States. Stereo Scott has recorded a fifth and fourth so far at the meeting, her first starts following a lengthy spell. She appears to have thrived during the week and she should be capable of another bold bid. Tyrone has paced fair races ■ so far at the meeting and he l should be capable of reaching i a place. There will also be support' for Bass Strait, which has, paced fair races so far at I the meeting. Jacobite is expected to take his place in the field. His in-i jured leg has responded well! to treatment and his trainer, j H. Stafford, was yesterday I more confident of him being; able to start. The bracket of Adioway,; Merry Morning and Vantage,: from K. E. Robertson’s Brighton team, will be popular with place investors in spite of the fact that they failed in the heats last Saturday night. They were not produced on Wednesday, but they have done well in the meantime. The Consolation race is the second leg of the on-course concession double, the first being the Visitors’ Handicap which appears to be dominated by Waitaki Elect and Dark Sun.
