WELLINGTON WOOL FULLY FIRM
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, February 7.
Compared with the recent Invercargill sale the market at Wellington today could be quoted as being fully firm for medium and coarser crossbreds, which comprised the bulk of the offering.
Skirtings were inclined in sellers’ favour while lambs’ wool tended to be irregular and prices slightly easier. Passings were negligible.
The official report said that the offering comprised 28,478 bales drawn from all districts in Wellington and consisted mainly of full-length and early shorn ewe fleece wools together with lambs wool and the usual oddments. The bulk of the offering could be described as being of good average top making in style showing fair to good
colour, but many lines show-; ed cottiness and were mixed I for quality. The lambs wool! was mainly 2in to 3in in j length and was generally wellj sorted in the shed although! some lines carried dust. Lines I which showed poor shed work' were discounted. The wide range of odd-1
i rnents on offer were of fair I colour with the exception of ! belly wool which, in many leases, showed yellow stain. A fully representative 1 bench of buyers gave support Ito the market. The bidding, (was at times animated. Once (again the Continent domiInated the market.
