EXPORT OF FORDS

During 1968, exports of Ford cars from Britain were worth more than $4OO million, or about $72 million more than in 1967. Exports were up by about 45 per cent, and sales to Common Market countries rose by 146 per cent.

The Cortina, Ford claims, is the best-selling British-made car in the United States, and Ford exports to the United States rose by 87 per cent in 1968.

The Escort is also proving a successful car in export markets, and at present about 60 per cent of the production of 1000 Escorts a day is being exported. The company has sold about 5000 Cortinas in Czechoslovakia in the last five years, and has now signed a contract to supply 3000 Escorts to a Hungarian company during the next three years.
