CARGO FOR U.K.
No Delays In N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 6. Additional ships coming out in ballast would avert any stockpiling, at New Zealand ports, of cargo for Britain, a spokesman for the Conference Lines said in Wellington today.
He was commenting on a London report that more ships were being put on the New Zealand run to cover sailing delays in Britain caused by port congestion, labour shortages, the closing of some docks, and industrial stoppages.
Export commitments were being covered, he said. There was no stockpiling of export cargo in New Zealand through delays attributable to ships of the Conference Lines.
