CANNON RAISED BY SKINDIVER.—Mr John Strano, of Harbord, Sydney, chipping marine growths from one of the two 400lb cannons he raised from a sunken wreck off Dobroyd Head, Sydney Harbour. It is possible that the wreck Mr Strano has found is that of the armed merchant shin Catherine Adamson, which was wrecked and sank in October, 1857, with the loss of 21 lives, but New South Wales has no complete record of ships wrecked or their locations.
