PLANS FOR OLYMPICS
N.Z. Hockey Assn Members of the New Zealand Hockey Association's managemen committee are very con* scious of the need to build immediately for the next Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. At their meeting last evening the members decided to instruct the national selectors (Messrs R. H. Mackinlay and I. D. Armstrong) to invite to the national coaching school in Christchurch during Easter only players available for New Zealand for the next four years.
The coaching sub-committee wishes for a maximum of 28 players to attend the school and recommends that half of the players be seniors, and the others colts.
In expectation of a definite invitation from Australia to tour later this year, members discussed whether it was advisable to select players who would be available for the next four years but no decision was reached.
Itinerary Approved The six-week tour of the West German coach, Mr H. Wein, was approved. He will be in Christchurch during Easter and in addition to his coaching in the various areas is also likely to conduct refresher courses in Auckland and Christchurch for persons he worked with earlier in the tour.
Mr M. R. Good, who has been secretary-treasurer of the association for eight" years will not seek re-election for the posts at the association’s annual meeting in April.
