Pine Globe In Form For Nelson Today
Pine Globe will be a commanding favourite for the Second Tahuna Handicap on the first day of the Nelson Trotting Club’s summer meeting at Richmond Park today, having heralded an early win when he failed by a nose to hold off Loyal Adios in a useful field of three-year-olds at Addington Raceway last week.
Pine Globe was in the middle of the field until fairly late and ran on strongly, recording a fast time for the 10 furlongs. Royal Trump, another ini the same age group, should; be the hardest for Pine Globe; to beat Royal Trump is onc| of a very strong team being raced on the Blenheim-Nel-son circuit by the Belfast trainer, C. S. Donald. He met trouble in the Pioneer Stakes at Addington last week, and did well to finish fifth. Commandaway, Khandallah, Peel Off, and Seafleld Queen are others capable of adding interest to the finish. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Nelson Cup and the Tasman Handicap. .
