Women's Club Party

About 130 members of the Canterbury Women’s Club attended a Christmas party recently. They were welcomed by the president (Mrs G. E. West). The "Watts Cup for the best play written by a club member was presented to Mrs Mavis Wood and cups for the bowling competitions were presented to Mrs O. I. Dickson and Mrs R. H. Roberts. The McLaren Cup, for outstanding work in the club and in civic affairs, was won by Mrs L. P. Bennett. There was a Christmas programme of entertainment and Mrs M. Smail, a life member, cut the cake, which she had donated.
