Duties the Biochemistry Section is currently studying activities of enzymes in soil and their significance and relation to environmental factors and different biological properties of soils. Associated with these investigations will be an examination of humic acids in different groups of soils. Studies are also being conducted in collaboration with Chemistry Section on the relations between composition of soil and pasture plants and animal health, particularly hypo* magnesaemia. It -is desirable that the officer appointed collaborate in one of these projects, but consideration would be given to research in some other field by an experienced scientist.
