RETIREMENT TRIBUTES
Tributes were paid to the Waimairi County Engineer meeting of the council. He will retire at the end of next week ,to become lecturer in agricultural engineering at Lincoln College. The chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) presented Mr Calvert with a portable record-player. Mr Calvert, after thanking councillors and the staff for their loyalty, said all engineers were accused of building their monuments. He looked back with pride on his first major job, the Jellie Park development, on the work done at Spencer Park and in the reconstruction and widening of Harewood Road as the first stage of the county master traffic plan. Crs M. P. Hobby and J. D. Ashby, who are not seeking re-election, were thanked for their services.
