Preservation Of Reserves

(From Our Own Reporter) NAPIER, Oct. 2. An assurance that recreation grounds and reserves will not be converted to other purposes will be sought by the National Council of Women from Ministers responsible for all land reservations. This was decided unanimously at the council’s conference in Napier to-day. The council wants Ministers to safeguard the interests of the public' and particularly the young. A note to a remit from the Auckland branch said that reserves were being eroded as city and borough councils sometimes attempted to sell or let reserve land. Much depended on the vision of city councils as to what happened to land, said the national president (Mrs L. W. Tiller). She asked branches to watch the situation.
