Backs Were Superior
LINWOOD 6: J. Currie and R. Wallace tries. ALBION 3: D. C. Leary a goal from a penalty. Although Linwood won. its advantage was marginal and almost at any time the game could have swung in Albion’s favour. It was perhaps the superiority of the Linwood backs, who made best use of the firm ground at Lancaster Park, which gave their side the edge.
In the early stages it looked as if Linwood would be hard pressed to avoid a loss. Albion attacked strongly and its backs were on the verge of breaking through on several occasions However, Linwood recovered well from this and when Currie threw himself over the line to 'core after a fine movement from set play the sparkle seemed to leave the Albion attack.
This was the only score before half-time but ’Wallace set the seal on the match after racing through a rather ineffective Albion defence to score near the posts. Referee: Mr B. E. Powell.
