Avalanche Danger

The Canterbury Ski Association advises that, because of recent heavy falls of snow, avalanche conditions are extremely dangerous at all Canterbury ski fields. Most access roads are closed by snow, and those that are open can be used only by four-wheel-drive vehicles with chains on all wheels. Avalanche conditions are likely to persist for some time and skiers are advised to get in touch with experienced elub officials before contemplating entering their areas.
