Draughtsmen’s Institute
Membership of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Institute of Draughtsmen had remained high during the year and now stood at 303, 40 more than last year, the chairman (Mr F. S. Robinson) said in his report to the annual meeting. Mr Robinson said that the status of draughtsmen could best be advanced by raising the standards required both for full, and associate membership. “As a first step I would suggest that the minimum requirement for associate membership should be the New Zealand Certificate or its equivalent,” he said. Officers elected to the branch executive were: Chairman, Mr F. S. Robinson; deputy-chairman, Mr N. Kinzett; secretary, Mr D. W. Rademaker; treasurer, Mr C. H. Shaw; architectural representatives, Messrs R. D. Comfort and A. A. Louman; civil and structural represenatives, Messrs G. L. Southom and N. J. K. Brailsford; survey representatives, Mrs B. Arnold and Messrs J. Paterson, P. G. Smith and 1 G. Porter; mechanical representatives, Messrs R. B. Wallace and C. D. Matheson.
