Big New Block In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 11. Tenders will be called by the Ministry of Works, on behalf of the Government Office Accommodation Board, for a 12-storey departmental building in Auckland. The Minister in charge of the board (Mr Marshall) said the building, to be called the Customhouse, was part of the long-term development plan for central Auckland. He said the building would be known as the Customhouse because the Customs Department would be the largest single department in it The building would also house the Marine Department, the port inspection staff of the Department of Agriculture, and the Waterfront Industry Commission. Present intentions were also to house in it the Transport, Statistics, Internal Affairs and Civil Aviation Departments.
Mr Justice Tompkins had been appointed a judge of the Land Valuation Court, the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) announced yesterday. He replaces Judge Archer, who recently retired.—(PA.)
