Inquiries At Avondale

<N.Z. Pre. Association) AUCKLAND. W. H. Short, after winning the Windsor Hurdles on Sunseeker at Avondale on Saturday, was flnad *2O for causing interference to the second horse. Rocky Lane. H. Green, the rider of Rocky Lane, lodged a protest which was dismissed after the Judicial committee had decided that, while intereferenca did occur at the last fence, it did not affect the result. Green's deposit was refunded. The committ.ee decided that Sunseeker's tendency to move to the right might have contributed to the Interference and treated Short's breach as minor. K. S. Cullen was suspended for one week after an Inquiry into the running of the Leingholm Maiden. The judicial committee found CuUen, riding Golden Campaign, had caused interference to Gold Heights, which in turn checked Mac Laird as the Held straightened for the run home. '. Cullen, according to the Judicial report, had taken Golden Campaign out from near- the fence to get better footing. Gold Heights had to move out also, and took the Un. of Mac Laird, which waa severely checked. The held ran more than a furlong before the totalisator was closed for the Churchill Handicap. An Inquiry afterwards established that the balloon attendant had misinterpreted an announcement that the totalisator was to close in two minutes and immediately raised the balloon.

Acting on the signal, the starter, Mr B. H. Morris, let the field go. The Judicial committee determined that the race had been validly run.
