Name Not Fixed
Although several suggestions have been made, the name of the new Maori youth centre begun by the Roman Catholic Diocesan Maori Mission in Christchurch has not yet been decided. The chaplain to the Maori community (the Rev. C. Horgan) said yesterday that he had previously meant to convey that the centre would be a turangawaewae, or “foothold” in the city for Maoris, not that this was to be the centre’s name.
