A private members’ measure, the Parliamentary Commissioner (Ombudsman) Amendment Bill, introduced by Mr G. A. Spooner (Lab., Wanganui), received a first reading after some debate yesterday morning. The report of the International Labour Conference at Geneva was tabled. Ministers answered 14 questions. The House then continued the Address-in-Reply debate before rising at 4 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
