Games Team Going High

The New Zealand rowing eight to compete at the Olympic Games in Mexico may have some high-altitude training before leaving this country. The sectional manager of the team (Mr B. R. Walker) said yesterday that Marlborough rowing officials were keen for the eight to row at Lake Rotoiti, in the Nelson province. Lake Rotoiti is about 3000 ft above sea level and is fairly sheltered, Mr Walker said. The visit by the eight, which is based in Christchurch, will be made In early or middle August, and it is likely that it will be sponsored by Rothmans, said Mr Walker.
