Plea For Airships
Sir,—l was most interested to see "Airshipman’s” letter. I do not agree that we are well served by shipping; I do believe that there is a need for airships. But how are we to obtain these airships? New Zealand has no experience in airship construction and the only way we could have airships would be to buy them from Germany, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America. This would use up valuable overseas funds. This is undoubtedly the greatest stumb-ling-block to airship development, but I am sure that it is not insurmountable. I look forward to the day when 1 can fly in a New Zealand dirigible.—Yours, etc., WINDY. July 5, 1968.
