FRIESIAN SALE

Top Price $520

A nine-month-old bull offered on account of A. Udy, of Wyndham, realised top price of 8520 at the annual South Island Friesian cattle sale at Addington Show Grounds yesterday. The bull was one of eight offered on account of Mr Udy. and six of them were sold at auction for an average of 8398.30. The offering included 12 bulls, but none of the others found buyers at auction. For heifers there was a better demand, with eight of the Id lots being sold at auction for an average of t 238.75. Thia was 370 a head better than last year. Top price was 3440 for a two-year-old offered on account of B. G. Mclntosh, of Prebbleton. The buyer was Dr P. B. Jones, of Walmauku, Auckland. Most of the cattle were taken by local buyers, with others going as far south as Invercargill. Detans of sales were:— Helfer, F. A. Mclntosh and Sons. Flaxton: 1 two-year-old at 3200 (Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, for I. Dickie, Invercargill). E. J. Stalker and Son, Greenpark: 1 two-year-old at 3100 (E. C. Sunckell and Son, Dovleston). Allan Brothers, AJlandale: 1 three-year-old at 3280 (W. S. Kirk, walmate); B. G. Mclntosh, Prebbleton: 1 two-year-old at 3210 (Dr P. B. Jones, Auckland); 1 two-year-old at 8440 (Dr Jones); 1 two-year-old at 8160 (G. I. Peters, Banglora). A. D. Oliver, Hororata: 1 rising three-year-old at 3200 (E. C. Sunckell and Son, Doyleston). L. O. Wheeler, Snrngston: 1 at 3240 (Spark Brothers, Bangiora). Bull, A. Udy, Menzies Ferry, Wyndham: 1 aged 10 months, at 3450 (J. Gerritaen, Invercargill): 1 aged seven months, at 3450 (Wright, Stephenson and Company, Gore, as agents); 1 aged nine months, at 3520 (A. J. Crowe, Banglora); 1 aged nine months, at 8450 (Spark Brothers, Banglora); 1 aged 10 months, at 3200 (L. G. PMskie, Temuka); 1 aged nine months, at 3520 (W. S. Kirk, Walmate). Selling agents were Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd.
