OBITUARY MR A. J. SHEARMAN

Mr Alexander James Shearman, a well-known musician at service club functions, died in Christchurch this month. He was 60

Mr Shearman had a life long interest in music and over the years played the violin in the Savage Club orchestra, the Working Men’s Club orchestra, the Tin Hat Club orchestra and the Avon orchestra drained as a cabinet maker and iciner, Mr Shearman went into business on his own account as a builder during the war He was a member of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows, from his youth, and also a member of the Masonic lodge. Mr Shearman is survived by his wife, his son Maurice, and his daughter Noelene (Mrs Dekkers, of Greyirttuth).
