In a review of the last year’s activities given to the annual meeting of the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the retiring L Mr P J ’ Abbott) said that the year had been marked by an unusually heavy expenditure on show ground improvements and that the association could look forward to a period of several years without heavy commitments.

A great deal of work had been done by working bees. The expenditure included $2Bll on additions and improvements to the office buildings, $309 on the sheep pens and $234 on water reticulation and other improvements. The annual show had been an outstanding success, with gate takings at $897. The financial statement showed a surplus for the year of $749, and assets, including freehold property, stood at $31,839.
