Skelton Riding At Blenheim

Jay Ribbon, the outstanding hack at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, where he was unbeaten in three starts, will probably be W. D. Skelton’s mount in the Marlborough Cup on Saturday.

The leading jockey rode Jay Ribbon in two of his three wins at Riccarton last week.

Mr J. A. Wilson’s three-year-old was galloped on in the Autumn Plate last Saturday. but the trouble is not serious.

Jay Ribbon was left at Riccarton after his race on Saturday, and will go north later in the week with his stablemates, Certain and Heffs. Certain is also in the Marlborough Cup, and he will be W. D. Skelton’s mount if it is decided to keep Jay Ribbon for later at the meeting. The Levin horseman’s other mounts for the first day of the Marlborough meeting are Colorado Boy, Ribbon, Martino, Cheetah, Janess, and Sacroan.

The Riccarton trainer, R. P. Register, had hopes of engaging Skelton for Sir Lira-

ond in the Marlborough Cup, but will now have to look elsewhere.

Sir Limond galloped a mile with Kalimera on the trial grass in Imin 49 3-ssec at Riccarton yesterday. They had soft footing and the weather was foggy and cool so the time was fairly creditable.

Agrippa qualified for hurdle races by jumping four flights, the first two at a slow pace, and the last two competently at greater speed. He was ridden by N. Cowles, who will also be his rider in the Mayfield Hurdles at Blenheim on Saturday Earlier, Running Scared (P. Daly) made a good impression in leading Warm Up (A. Swanson) over four flights. Running Scared, the Great Autumn Handicap fourth last Saturday, may start on a hurdling career at Trentham next month. Having shown stamina and ability on winter tracks, Running Scared could develop good form aa a jumper from P. H. Jones’s stable.

Myth Mate Smart “The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Hindi and Myth Mate both worked in winning style at Awapuni yesterday morning. They wiH race at the Carterton Racing Club's meeting tomorrow. Hindi and Myth Mate both won their gallops with ease and C. E. Goss should win two races with them on Anzac Day. Identification and Illumined schooled weM, and Identification should meet success in the Dalefield Hack Hurdles at Tauherenikau. On the course proper. Myth Mate cleared out from Captain Kinloch over half a mile in 51sec, the last three furlongs in 37 4-ssec. This was a good effort, because the pegs were well out. Look Up is not a certain starter in the Marlborough Cup. No rider has been engaged for him, although R. J. Skelton will ride him on the second day. Look Up missed some work before Easter, but has picked up again. Hindi was doing better than the Marlborough candidate, Silver Pennant, at the end of five furlongs in Imin 6 3-ssec, the last three in 40sec. Hindi is very well and appeals for the Camp Hack Handicap on Anzac Day. Tainoch ran an easy seven furlongs in Imin 39sec. He is in the hurdles tomorrow, but could be a better prospect at Waipukurau. Prince D’Amour took Imin 17 4-ssec for six furlongs and ran his last three in 38 4-ssec. On the plough Gymkhana reeled off three furlongs in 38 4-ssec. He should be hard to beat in the GallipoM Stakes if he strikes good footing. Identification was too fast for Prince Callan in a run over four hurdles. Identification looks a promising novice, and will make his debut at the Carterton meeting.
