In the four days of the sales, conducted by William Inglis and Son, the record sum of $1,999,375 was spent on 623 yearlings. The average price of $3209 was also a record. The previous record was established last year. when 616 yearlings went under the hammer for 81.697,901.'an average of $2756 Buyers had their biggest spending day of this years sales on the second day last Thursday. when $815,000 was paid for 174 lots, an average of $4684. The imported stallion, Gaul, which was represented for the first time, had a successful sale. He topped the stallions’ aggregate with $182,400 from the sale of 22 yearlings. Gaul stands at the Oakleigh Stud, tn the Widden Valley. Sixteen Star Kingdom yearlings were sold for $159,650, an average of $9978.
