‘Miss University’ Sought
A “Miss Unlvereity” contest will be held next Tuesday morning at the University of Canterbury Hall, as part of the Capping Week programme. .. Eight students have entered so far. The girls will be Judged on personality and appearance. The winner will be announced after the contest
and will be crowned at the Undergraduate* Ball on Tuesday evening by last year’s “Miss University,” Mis* Sally Burton. "Our aim is to give the contest a new look this year,” Mr Neville Carson, a member of the contest committee, said yesterday. “We intend to make sure that there will be no disorderly behaviour in the
audience, a* there was last year.” The sponsoring firm. Hay’s, Ltd, has contributed prizes to the value of $5O, $3O and $lO for the three place-getter*. A special prize of a free modelling course has been offered by Mrs K. E. Ussher. The judges will be Dr G. V. Orange, Mrs Ussher and Miss L. Cruickshanks.
