‘Granny Look’ Gains Ground
(Tram Our Own Reporter)
TIMARU, April 22.
The “granny look” in fashion had led to a revival of interest in antiques, cameo brooches, and round, gold - rimmed spectacles, said Miss K. Minifie, who recently returned from an overseas visit.
The most fashionable hairstyle in London and Germany was the “Greek goddess” eoiffure, she said. The “Greek goddess” look was achieved by the use of hair-pieces, or wiglets. A good one cost about $10.50, but some with nylon mixed with the hair were cheaper, said I Miss Minifie. She was employed in several hairi dressing salons in London and Munich. ! “The smooth look is out,” i she said. "It is all waves and curls now.”
While working as a hostess at the International Textile Machinery Exhibition in Switzerland, Miss Minifie
watched parades of “high fashion,” in which the most outstanding exhibits were garments made of paper and the armour-type outfits of metal discs linked together. Also to the ford were plastic garments, including boots and helmets.
