Courthouse To Be Preserved
(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 23. The old Taupo courthouse and armed constabulary redoubt would be preserved within a new historic reserve, the Minister of Lands (Mr Maclntyre) announced today. The courthouse and redoubt have been placed under the control of the Historic Places Trust. The courthouse was built in 1881 by the armed constabulary and was first used as a hall. It was altered in 1887 for use as a courthouse.
