RUSSIAN MUSEUM DEVOTED TO STUDY OF HORSES.—One of the 600 pictures in the equestrian museum in Moscow belonging to the Agricultural Academy of the U.S.S.R. This picture is of the trotter, Elbrus, and was painted by G. Savitsky in 1922. In addition to painted chinaware, sculpture, and other works of art, the museum has a specialised library of more than 8000 books, including many rare volumes, in 15 languages. The museum dates from 1918. when Ya Butovich, an expert in horse-breeding and painting, presented his collection of equestrian works of art to the Soviet Government.
