Market Continues Firm; B.H.P. Gains 45c

Rises outnumbered falls by three to one on an active New Zealand share market yesterday. The range of issues was wide and price movements moderate.

The Australian section was also very firm and B.H.P rose 45c in Christchurch to 2270 c and at 2285 c in Auckland and Wellington. The closing price in Melbourne however, was 2150 c.

Early Bros, reacting to iis latest good profit results, firmed another 1c to 132 c while Maple Furnishings, which has announced it is

maintaining its 11 per cent dividend, rose 7c to 74c.

N.Z. Refining rose 10c to 575 c in Auckland—a new peak—but closed at 565 c in both Wellington and Christchurch.

Pye recovered another 2c to 52c while Tasman rose 15c to a record 775 c. South British eased 2c to 365 c, its lowest level since becoming ex dividend last week.
