V.S. CRISIS Stock Prices Fall In New York

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

NEW YORK, April 23.

Stock prices on the New York Stock Exchange continued to fall today as investors took alarm \at warnings about the United States economy.

The decline came after a sharp dip in stock last Friday when The American Federal Bank chief (Mr W. McC. Mar-

tin) said that the United States might be facing its worst financial crisis since 1931. All sections of the market fell back, except gold shares, which generally move against the trend.

The price of silver rose sharply to 234 c a troy ounce, an increase of 17c from Fri day’s close. Dealers said the rise reflected a similar advance on the London market and un certainty about the dollar after Mr Martin's warning.
