Fifth School Burgled

The burglary of the Hagley High School on Monday night was reported to the police yesterday. Nothing is known to have been taken. It was the fifth school burglary in 12 days. Detective Superintendent F A. Gordon, the head of the Christchurch Criminal Inves-! tigation Branch, said last evening that because of their isolation schools were easy targets for irresponsibles Though little of value could be stolen, as no money was kept at schools, it was possible for expensive equipment to be damaged or stolen. Police patrols played their part in the surveillance of such areas, but the security of some schools could be ini proved, he said.
