Safe Cut Open
A safe at Flewellen and Lipscomb, structural engineers, Waterloo Road, was cut open with an acetylene torch on Monday night and $2.50 was taken. Damage resulting from the burglary amounted to $2OO.
Last Thursday night an unsuccessful attempt was made to force open the safe. An overnight bag containing a razor and clothing of a total value of $124 was stolen from the Christchurch Teachers ’College between 8 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. on Monday. A purse and its contents worth $43.85 were stolen from a shop counter in the city on Monday. Detective Superintendent F. A. Gordon yesterday said that the type of offence was prevalent. He warned women to watch their purses.
Goods worth $lBO were stolen from the shop of Raymond Briggs, Ltd, 17 Wakefield Avenue, when it was broken into on Monday night.
