Terrorist Aid Alleged
<N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, April 23. Two senior South African security police officers have flown to London secretly because of fears of increasing guerrilla action in Southern Africa, the “Sun” reports. A South African newspaper said yesterday that the greatest danger to South Africa came from an anti-apartheid movement which has its headquarters in London. “This organisation now openly supports the terrorists and an armed revolt against South Africa, Rhodesia and the Portuguese colonies, and is working through the Left wing of the British Labour Party." the South African newspaper is quoted as saying
The “Sun" says that the First Secretary of State (Mrs Barbara Castle) was a former president of the anti-apartheid movement and that several junior Ministers are members.
The newspaper’s diplomatic reporter, Michael Leapman, says Britain’s policy is to avoid a direct confrontation between black and white in Southern Africa, because this would endanger the United Kingdom’s valuable trade and investments in the area.
