65 Floats In Procession

The University of Canterbury Students’ Association is aiming at 65 floats for its capping week procession on May 1 when a collection will be made to provide §lO,OOO for the Paraplegics Association.

Prizes of $2O, §lO and $6 have been offered for the best floats and there are other prizes for the best individual efforts and for the best performances en route. The procession controller (Mr L. Falck) has warned that “if you plan to be in procfesh in any other capacity than as a collector, you are officially a float and must register."

The capping week committee provides basic materials such as timber, wire-netting, calico, nails and paint and trucks for floats. Entries of floats will close on Thursday.
