Otago Drops Palmer
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. For the second time in three years A. J. Palmer has been surprisingly omitted from the Otago Freyberg Rose Bowl golf team. In 1966 the Otago selectors caused a sensation by overlooking Palmer after he had won the Otago match play title. He made his Freyberg debut last year, winning four of seven games, and this year was one of a selected group of young golfers who came under the Australian, N. G. von Nida, at a coaching school in Wellington. The Otago team for the Rose Bowl contest (not in playing order) is: G. E. Clarke, C. A. Cowie, G. D. Brown, C. G. Munro, and J. S. Roche. Palmer and P. Conlon are emergencies.
