THEFT FROM CAR AFTER ACCIDENT
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 15. Waitara police are investigating the theft of $6O and spare parts worth $44 from the wreck of a car near Uruti in which a Te Aroha schoolteacher lost her life on Thursday night.
The money was in a smallchange purse, and was stolen from the panel tray of the car.
A jack worth $2O and a spare tyre worth $24 were' also stolen. Sergeant D. J. Finnie, of the Waitara police, described the theft today as despicable. Half the money was owned by Miss Pamela Anne Jordan, aged 20, of Te Aroha, who died in a collision between two cars. The remainder belonged to Gerald Neal Shanahan, aged 19. the driver of the car in which Miss Jordan was the passenger, who was admitted in a satisfactory condition to the New Plymouth Hospital.
