Crankshafts Being Flown

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 12. The Royal Air Force will fly four spare crankshafts to New Zealand this week-end to ensure a full Cook Strait railferry service. It has been found that three crankshafts in the Aramoana are cracked. The British crankshafts—the only ones available there —will be flown out in an R.A.F. Hercules which will leave England on Saturday morning and arrive at Wellington on Monday night The Minister of Railways (Mr Gordon) said the offer to help fly spares to New Zealand had been made to him by the British High Commissioner in New Zealand (Sir lan MacLennan) immediately after the Wahine disaster.
