Whakatane. Gisborne. Hastings. Wanganui. Palmerston North. Wellington. Taumarunui. Some of these are new homes nearly ready for occupation. The roles of foster parents offers an interesting and challenging position to a husband and wife of mature outlook with a sympathy for and understanding of children. The job is for a married couple to act as mother and father for up to eight children for varying periods in the family home. The husband is free to continue in his normal week-day employment. The family homes are fully furnished and maintained by the Division except for 2 bed rooms which are set aside for the use of the foster parents.
