FINAL YACHT RACE TO BLUE RIBAND
Blue Riband (D. Hay) turned ®n a good performance to take line honours at the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club's final race of the season, on Saturday. Blue Riband won the Tucana Cup for the fastest time, and T. Turner (Wanda) won the B class event on corrected time. The trailer sailer fleet sailed with the main fleet by invitation and Nimbus (R. Campbell) came home well to win this division in the corrected time of 2hr 51.9 sec. Mana (D. White) won the Nicholson Cup for the A class championship, and Saracen (D. Gallagher) won the Bona Cup for the B class.
About 40 yachts left Lyttelton in foggy conditions and beat out against a light northeasterly wind to the whistling buoy at the heads. A number of ships leaving the port in the
afternoon seemed to make the course a crowded area. Fog horns sounded and look-outs kept a sharp watch to avoid the risk of being run down in the fog. Results were: Final Race.—Blue Riband <D.
